In June I wrote about why, despite the difficulty of preparing business award entries, you should persevere because they can really help your business. Then, in July, I was able to report on the success of Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm at the 1066 Business Awards. Now, in October, I am delighted to be able to chronicle more triumphs for our clients.
Success at the 1066 Business Awards – Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm was awarded Best Small Business and Clive Collins was named Business Personality of the Year – meant automatic entry to the JP South Business Awards. These were held on 30th September 2016 at Brighton’s Grand Hotel.
Business awards are always fun and they are a great way to meet other members of your business community, but they are even better when you win. I’m delighted to say, at the JP South Business Awards 2016, Clive was named Business Personality of the Year. We’ve been working with Clive and Catsfield for a number of years and I must say this is a richly deserved award and a great way to launch their 2016 Christmas campaign – they reopen on 19th November. A few days later, another longstanding client, Cleankill Environmental Services Ltd, was shortlisted in five categories at the Croydon Business Excellence Awards. Over the years, Cleankill has had mixed success at these awards. In 2014, they were named Best Medium Sized Business, but in 2015, they left empty-handed. I remember as I departed for my train, saying, “there’s always next year!”
It turns out I’ve never said a truer sentence. Of the five categories they were shortlisted in, they were Commended in two - ‘Commitment to the Community’ and ‘Best Small to Medium Enterprise’ - Highly Commended in the category for ‘Best Customer Service’ and they won ‘Best Company for Staff Training and Development’ and ‘Best Green Business’.
Winning awards is always lovely, but I know winning in these two categories was especially satisfying for the directors of Cleankill as I know they were hoping for recognition in both of these categories. Being acknowledged for their training and staff development, helps emphasise the importance the directors place upon staff training – demonstrated by them being the only pest control company in the UK to hold Silver accreditation from Investors in People. As Jon Whitehead, director, said following the award, “without staff there is no Cleankill.”
Being named Best Green Business is also very satisfying, because it is not something people expect. But Cleankill has always taken its commitment to the environment very seriously. They spend a great deal of time and effort trying to find ways that are effective, but which reduce their carbon footprint and which use non-toxic chemicals. To read our press release, click here.
As a PR company it is always nice to work with clients whose work you believe in. When this work is recognised by others, in the form of business awards, it makes the work so much more satisfying.
Well done Catsfield and Cleankill!
