Soap company reaches finals of two business awards

3rd November 2022

The English Soap Company is celebrating after multiple shortlistings at both the Sussex Business Awards 2022 and The Made in South East Awards 2022.

In the Sussex Business Awards the company has been shortlisted in the Medium Business of the Year and the Business Growth categories and Managing Director Oliver Butts is a finalist in the Business Person of the Year category.

The Sussex Business Awards is the largest event of its kind and the most prestigious in the county. Celebrating its thirty-third year in 2022, the awards offer a unique opportunity to showcase the best innovators, leaders and entrepreneurs in the region. Winners will be announced at The Grand Brighton on 1st December 2022.

In the Insider’s Made in South East Awards for manufacturing and engineering businesses, The English Soap Company has been shortlisted in both the Export and Manufacturing Innovation categories. You can view the full shortlist here.

Now in their eighth year, these awards celebrate and reward the high-quality manufacturing sector in the region and the skilled workforces they employ. It is the premier event for manufacturing and engineering businesses across the whole of the South East.

The awards recognise and reward those companies that have excelled in innovation, product development and growth in either domestic or overseas markets over the course of the last 12 months. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 17th November. They will automatically go through to compete in Insider’s national final event, the Made in the UK Awards, which will take place in July 2023 in Liverpool.

Philip Cunliffe, Insider’s regional business editor who chaired the judging, said: "It's been a very challenging couple of years for the sector and several issues continue to impact manufacturers of all sizes. But the sector has remained remarkably resilient and has performed well throughout the period.

"Many of the businesses on the shortlists have demonstrated exceptional qualities and we’re really excited to be able to showcase them at what I know will be another wonderful night of celebration of the manufacturing sector in the region."

Managing Director Oliver Butts said: “We have been working incredibly hard to make improvements to our manufacturing and develop our product range over the past few years. We’ve also expanded the workforce significantly. To achieve recognition in these awards and others is a fantastic morale booster for the whole team and a great way to raise awareness of our brand and products.”

From its premises in Waldron near Heathfield, The English Soap Company manufactures luxury soap bars, toiletries and soy wax candles of the highest quality at affordable prices with a strong focus on sustainability.
