Ten ideas for thoughtful isolation gratitude gifts

19th January 2022

The World Health Organization has warned that half of Europe will have caught the Omicron Covid variant within the next six to eight weeks, resulting in an unprecedented number of people in isolation.

Isolation can be lonely, depressing and frustrating on top of not feeling terribly well. If you’ve experienced isolation yourself or are currently going through it, you will know how vital the support of family, friends and neighbours is to keep you fed and watered. Or you may want to thank someone who has helped a loved one who you couldn’t help yourself because you live too far away.

In some households a person without the disease will face looking after several family members in a role that’s a combination of prison warden and room service. It’s an exhausting feat that can last for days.

A small, edible treat to say thank you can mean the world to someone who has helped you – explains meltedinside.com founder Candy Bowles:

“In a new year while we are still facing huge uncertainty maybe we can all take time to say thanks to the people who have put themselves out to care for us and our families. Many people have had to depend on others – perhaps they couldn’t get food deliveries, weren’t well enough to care for themselves or simply couldn’t leave their rooms for 10 days. We’ve many delicious gifts made with love by our makers– perfect to communicate your heartfelt appreciation to those who have helped you through the last unprecedented 20 months.”

Here are ten original treats that you can order online today with just a few clicks:

  1. If your helper loves to cook, this collection of spices and bbq rubs in a sari-wrapped spice tin is the perfect gift.

  2. If your helper has a sweet tooth these delicious and soft almond and apricot chocolate teacakes would be really appreciated.

  3. This beautifully presented gift pack of jam and apple chutney will put a smile on one’s face.

  4. If they like a little tipple, this letter box size trio of liquers including sloe gin, medlar and damson is ideal.

  9. The perfect pairing with tea is this mouth-watering lemon drizzle cake which is also gluten free.

  10.  Finally, another little luxury is Simon’s Marmalade Shortbread. A crisp, light shortbread that literally melts in your mouth.

The pandemic has caused many people to suffer from stress and other mental health problems. The Melted Inside team will be donating 5% of sales in January to mental health charities Mind and the Mental Health Foundation with an equal amount to both.
