The award recognises the contribution of young pest controllers to the industry, with judges looking particularly for individuals committed to developing their skills and knowledge and

continuing to learn.

For Beth, pest control was not an obvious career choice. She originally considered a career in policing or forensic investigation and graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a First-Class BSc degree in Criminology with Forensic Studies.

It was while studying forensic entomology and the role insect activity can play in determining stages of decomposition that she developed a fascination with insect behaviour, investigation and problem-solving.

After gaining her first experience in the pest control industry through a graduate scheme, Beth joined Cleankill in 2023 and quickly established herself as a highly valued member of the team.

She now manages a large and geographically challenging area covering parts of Hampshire and the Sussex coastline, working with customers ranging from residential properties and poultry farms to National Trust properties and golf courses.

Beth said: “The award means so much. I couldn't believe I had been nominated and then to go on to win is incredible. I am proud to be representing women in pest control and promoting that it's a great career for women.

“I really enjoy my work and helping people as well as learning new things every day.”

Beth has already achieved considerable success during her time at Cleankill. Last year she was named Cleankill Technician of the Year and she has also received two Surprise & Delight awards from Cleankill's parent company, PCP, following positive customer feedback.

Cleankill Senior Manager Clive Bury said: “We are incredibly proud of Beth and all she has achieved while she has been with Cleankill. We feel the award is totally justified and we are very thankful that Beth works for us.”

Beth hopes eventually to progress into a Field Biologist role before potentially moving into technical management and training - combining her interest in research and problem-solving with her enthusiasm for helping others develop their careers.

Her success also provides a powerful example of the opportunities available to women in an industry which has traditionally been male dominated.

Cleankill Pest Control employs more than 50 people and provides pest prevention and eradication services across London, Surrey, Sussex, the Home Counties, Bristol, Gloucestershire and Somerset. The company places particular emphasis on environmentally responsible pest management, focusing on detection and prevention wherever possible.
