Sussex photographer is named best in the region

3rd June 2019

Sarah Tate AMPA, from Hellingly, has just been awarded the prestigious title of Master Photography Association Regional Photographer of the Year 2019 with her fine art portraits of two local people.

Sarah, who won the title against a huge number of entries from hundreds of professional photographers from the South of England, including Essex and London, says this latest award is the greatest accomplishment of her career so far. She won two categories – Children’s Portrait Photographer and Creative Portrait Photographer - and was then named Overall Portrait Photographer.

Her portrait selected by the MPA judge Andy Griffin FMPA was described as the best classical image ‘with deep emotion jumping off the paper, he has seen for many years.’ 'It was an easy choice to make it the winner,' said Ray Lowe, MPA Chairman.

Sarah, who has a studio in Heathfield, said: “I was thrilled and quite shocked as I wasn’t expecting to win so it is really fantastic. The boy I photographed came in as part of the Fine Art Awards I have been running with the Children’s Cancer Trust.

“I do enjoy fine art photography and I have developed my own style which is classical with a twist.”

Sarah works from her contemporary studio in Heathfield. Sarah has been a qualified photographer for nearly 20 years and is one of Sussex´s leading lifestyle portrait photographers.Sarah can be contacted on 01435 862793 or go to www.sarahtate.co.uk
